Week 8 Recap
London hosted its second NFL game in two weeks and Cincinnati and Washington treated the Brits to the league’s second tie in as many weeks.
For the second week in a row, there are six teams on a bye, so fantasy owners will have a bunch of waiver wire scrambling to do.
Week 9 Prime Time Games
Thursday Night Football – Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday Night Football – Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders
Monday Night Football – Buffalo Bills @ Seattle Seahawks
What to Watch for in Week 9
Lock of the Week – Saints and 49ers cover the over (51)
Both of these defenses bleed points to opposing offenses, but the real intrigue is the pace of the game. Chip Kelly’s teams are always tops in the league in plays ran, but New Orleans isn’t far behind this year. With the tempo ramped up, this should be one of the highest scoring games of the week.
Matchup of the Week – Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders
A rivalry renewed, this week for sole possession of first place in the AFC West and a game that could potentially decide a first-round bye come playoff time. Oakland and Denver both sit at 6-2 and this is the classic unstoppable force versus immovable object matchup. The Raiders rank in the top five in the league in total offense and Denver has the third-ranked defense. Even Vegas doesn’t know which way this game will go, as the game sits on the board as a pick ‘em.
Player to Watch – Charcandrick West (KC) vs Jacksonville
After Spencer Ware’s concussion in Week 8, Charcandrick West is the lone healthy back on the Chiefs’ roster. Before his injury, Ware accounted for over a third of Kansas City’s total yards on the season. West will assume the majority of that work against a Jaguars team that has officially gone off the rails, allowing over 200 total yards to Titans’ running backs last week.
